NATIONAL HARBOR, MD-Executives form MGM Resorts International gave a briefing on Wednesday that included architectural renderings of its ambitious $800-million MGM National Harbor casino project in Prince George's County.
MGM is one of the bidders for a casino license in Maryland that would allow table games and 3,000 slot machines, according to the Washington Post.
The Maryland Video Lottery Facility Location Commission plans to visit three locations in Prince George's next month: National Harbor, Rosecroft Raceway and a vacant parcel in Fort Washington. The commission then plans to hold public hearings and then make a selection perhaps by the end of this year.
Jim Murren, chairman and chief executive of MGM, described his company's proposed resort as “a gateway project to the state of Maryland” that would take advantage of the region's natural topography.
The MGM National Harbor would feature an 18-story glass tower hotel, a seven-story parking garage, restaurants, entertainment, upscale retail and a spa. See story in the Washington Post.
