NEW YORK CITY-The 1930s co-op apartment tower River House is looking to convert the private club there into the city's largest and priciest residence.

The plan is to convert the five-story 62,000-square-foot club into a residence. The asking price: $130 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. The club on the East River has a private entrance on East 52nd Street, a riverfront garden and is large enough to fit 10 average-sized Manhattan townhouses. The club has has two tennis courts, a swimming pool, a squash court and a card room.

The co-op board at River House put the space on the market after negotiations on a long-term lease renewal or sale of the space to the private club, the River Club of New York, failed. Both the board and the club are still negotiating, however. The club has operated at the location since it opened in 1931.

"For the right person, this is a trophy of all trophies, "says Kirk Henckels, director of private brokerage at Stribling & Associates, who is not associated with the property listing. See story in the Wall Street Journal.
