STAMFORD, CT-Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced on Wednesday that the state will grant a $2.5-million loan to software company Kayak to relocate its headquarters to Stamford.
The firm operates out of offices in Norwalk, CT. The firm was recently acquired by Norwalk-based Priceline. The state funding will help pay for renovations to its new locate at 7 Market St., where Kayak is to house its headquarters in about 17,000 square feet of space. The deal is expected to create 50 new jobs in Stamford, according to the Stamford Advocate.
"Online travel represents a substantial piece of the Internet industry, with millions and millions of people booking hotels and other travel arrangements online each year," Gov. Malloy stated.. "Kayak is a leading travel technology company that processes more than 100 million travel search queries per month. The state's investment in support of its new headquarters will help foster further growth for the brand as it continues to penetrate the global travel market." See story in the Stamford Advocate.
