MIAMI-The Miami-Dade Inspector General's Office says it will be monitoring the transfer of four affordable housing project from Carlisle Development Group to locally-based building firm Atlantic|Pacific.

Carlisle Development Group is being investigated by federal authorities for allegedly defrauding the US government of affordable housing subsidies, according to the Miami Herald.

Interim Inspector General Patra Liu notified County Mayor Carlos Gimenez's administration last week of her office's intentions to oversee the assignment of the four rental-apartment projects. Key Carlisle staffers were hired by Atlantic|Pacific to manage the developments, a move that drew Gimenez's attention.

In addition to meeting the approval of Dade County, the Federal Transit Administration and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development also must green-light the property transfer. See story in the Miami Herald.
