VERNON, NJ-There were no takers for the Hidden Valley Ski Resort here at an auction on Tuesday.

“We had a number of people who showed interest,” said Oren Klein, a managing partner with Auction Advisers, “but no one was prepared to bid. We'll continue to market the property.”

The 140-acre resort  closed at the end of last season after 36 years of operation and is still looking for a new owner, according to the Star Ledger. The auction was part of a state court-ordered liquidation. Klein said more than 160 parties had expressed interest in the property, including groups from New York State and Pennsylvania. The minimum bid was set at $2.75 million.

“Our main objective was to sell the property as a resort,” Klein said. He said some groups may still come forward in the next few weeks with an offer and he is hopeful a new owner can be found before the start of the next ski season. See story in the Star Ledger.
