CHARLOTTE, NC-KenCord Bio Therapeutics, a fledgling pharmaceutical firm, announced its intent on Wednesday to locate operations in southwest Charlotte and add 200 new positions within the next two years.

The firm, which was launched with a $15 million investment from Texas-based Progressive Funding Solutions, is headed by CEO and Founder Ken Wiggins.

No details of the firm's real estate plans were revealed. However, the firm is looking to locate operations in Charlotte, Wiggins stressed. noting the location will give his firm access to the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis, as well as technology and financial services professionals in Charlotte . “I didn't want to be another pharmaceutical company in the Research Triangle,” Wiggins said. “We can stand alone” in Charlotte.
