PLANT CITY, FL-Walton International Group has spent more than $18 million to acquire 1,000 acres in order to develop a mixed-use residential and retail development there.

The Calgary, Canada-based firm acquired the parcel from the Robert G. Graham Family LP and David J. Tozlosky Family LP, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

Ken Wenhold, senior vice president of land acquisitions for Walton, says the company will develop a "highly-amenitized upscale community” that will consist of 2,500 single-family homes, as well as some multifamily and retail development, a school and open space.

He says that construction on the project will likely begin in the next two to three years. See story in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
