BETHESDA, MD-Lockheed Martin said on Monday that it is cutting its planned furlough to 2,400 workers after the Pentagon announced it was recalling most of its civilian furloughed workers.

On Friday, the Bethesda-based defense contractor reported it planned to furlough approximately 3,000 of its employees because of the federal government shutdown.

However, Lockheed Martin reduced the furlough total after Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced over the weekend he would order back more than 90% of the agency's civilians who had been told to stay home. See story in the Washington Post.
