NEW YORK CITY-As the New York City Council prepares to vote on a $3-billion redevelopment plan for the Willets Point section of Queens near Citi Field, local officials want the city to guarantee a critical $70-million ramp be built.

The ramp would connect the retail and hotel development to the Van Wyck Expressway. On Wednesday, two City Council subcommittees are set to vote on the plan, according to Crain's New York Business. The plan could go before the full City Council by as early as next week for a final vote.

The city has previously promised to pay for the ramps to connect the project to the Van Wyck, but the funds have not yet been allocated in the city's capital budget. See story in Crain's New York Business.
