SOUTHFIELD, MI-Oakland Community College had paid $2.2 million for a five-acre tract of land that formerly was the home of a Ramada Inn from the city of Southfield and the Southfield Downtown Development Authority.
The college purchased the property off Nine Mile Road in case the college needs to expand its Southfield campus, according to Janet Roberts, executive director of marketing and communications for OCC.
The land was the site of a Ramada Inn before demolition began on the hotel in August. The 18-story, 253,000-square-foot hotel had been closed since 2008. See story in Crain's Detroit Business.
