WASHINGTON, DC-A development team is mulling a plan to build a 200-room hotel less than a block away from Nationals Park.
The team that includes former D.C. Building Industry Association President Greg Fazakerley and Bethesda developer Ken Finkelstein is considering the hotel development at 50 M St., SE, a switch from a previous plan to build a 135,000-square-foot office building at the site, according to the Washington Business Journal.
"It's a great site, it's a great location on M Street, highly visible, right across from the Metro," Finkelstein says. "Given what has happened down there and everything that is planned to happen down there, it seems like that would be a good use for the site."
The developers bought the site this past May for $13 million from MR Ballpark 6 LLC, a partnership between Monument Realty and Lehman Bros. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
