WASHINGTON, DC-The General Services Administration is close to finalizing plans to have the US Navy move into the 600,000-square-foot Transpoint building in Buzzard Point.

The building at 2100 Second St. SW was the headquarters for the US Coast Guard, which is now completing its move to its new headquarters facilities at the St. Elizabeths campus in southeast DC.

Some Naval personnel were relocated to the Transpoint building in the aftermath of last month's Navy Yard shooting, according to the Washington Business Journal. The newspaper reports that the Navy and GSA are working on a formal agreement that would let the Navy officially take over the building once the Coast Guard vacates.
