WASHINGTON, DC-William Smith and Co. reports it has signed a lease with Whole Foods to open a store on New Jersey Avenue here, a few blocks from Nationals Park.
The Whole Foods store will be part of the developmen firm's apartment project to be built at 800 New Jersey Ave., SE, according to the Washington Post.
Carol Chatham, a spokeswoman for the developer, says the store would total approximately 35,000 square feet. Chris Smith, chief executive of William C. Smith, has been in talks with Whole Foods for more than a decade. The company nearly had a deal with Whole Foods in 2011 but the agreement was never finalized. See story in the Washington Post.
