CLIFTON, NJ-Alma Bank has acquired a three-story office and retail building at 1133 Main Ave. here from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

The deal was announced by NAI James E. Hanson, which represented the FDIC in the transaction for the 9,942-square-foot building. The property was built by the Fort Lee Federal Savings Bank, which had a retail bank branch on the ground floor and offices in the remainder of the building. NAI Senior Vice President Gary Sauerborn handled negotiations for the FDIC in the deal.

“With heavy foot and car traffic by both residents and people who work in the area, this property is ideally situated for a bank,” Sauerborn ssaod. “The ample free municipal parking in the rear also makes the property an ideal location for retail and commercial space.”

The FDIC was named as the receiver for the Fort Lee Federal Savings Bank when it was closed by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in the spring of 2012. The FDIC entered into a an agreement with Alma Bank that it would assume all  deposits of Fort Lee Federal Savings Bank.

Alma Bank has opened a branch at the 1133 Main Ave. location.
