CHARLOTTE-Publix Super Markets Inc. reports it plans to open 11 stores in the Charlotte area by the end of 2015.
The stores will be both new and remodeled stores, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The first of the 11 locations will be at the Ballantyne Town Center, which is scheduled to open in early 2014.
The Lakeland, FL-based grocer plans to open four new stores and remodel seven Bi-Lo stores in the region, which Publix has acquired.
“Our intent is to begin work and get those stores open as soon as possible,” says Kim Reynolds, a Publix spokesperson. See story in the Charlotte Business Journal.
