NEW YORK CITY-Madison Square Garden officials unveiled the final phase of the transformation of “the world's most famous arena” on Thursday.

The now completed project has caused the New York Rangers to start the first nine games of their NHL season on the road and the New York Knicks to play all their preseason basketball games on the road.

The third phase of the three-year renovation project features an expanded Seventh Avenue entrance plaza, an upgraded scoreboard more than twice the size of the previous scoreboard, and a sky bridge level, which features a seating area suspended high above the arena floor, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The Knicks' will open at the refurbished facility on Friday in their final preseason tilt against the Charlotte Bobcats. The Rangers will finally come home and make their Garden debut Monday against the Montreal Canadiens.

"All of us know what New York means to the world and what this building means to the world, so the bar was set very high for this project," said James Dolan, the executive chairman of the Madison Square Garden Co. "We knew that the world's greatest fans deserved a complete state-of-the-art experience, and they deserve to know that the Garden will continue to be the setting for the biggest and best events well into the future."
