PHILADELPHIA-The long-delayed expansion of the SugarHouse Casino appears to be moving forward.
The expansion will include a second-floor banquet hall with a wall of windows and a riverside balcony. At ground level, SugarHouse will extend its riverwalk and a bike path along the northern end of the property, according to The Inquirer.
The expansion project will increase the size of the gaming floor from 58,000 square feet to 85,000 square feet. Greg Carlin, chief executive of SugarHouse, adds that most of the $155-million expansion would involve dining and event space. The project will also include the construction of a seven-story parking garage.
Site preparation could begin by the end of this year. Construction of the garage, restaurants, and expanded casino space will commence in the spring of 2014. See story in The Inquirer.
