LEESBURGH, VA-Loudoun County and Northern Virginia have become meccas for data center operators.
Northern Virginia now plays host to 9 million square feet of data center space, with Loudoun County accounting for 5 million square feet, according to the Washington Post. Another 3 million square feet of data center space is being planned or developed in Loudoun County.
Data centers account for $5.5 million in annual tax revenue, according to Buddy Rizer, acting director of the Loudoun County's Department of Economic Development. “It's the biggest thing we have going. I think it's really one of the great economic development stories around the country,” he said. See story in the Washington Post.
