WEST PALM BEACH, FL-Construction on the long awaited Palm Beach County Convention Center hotel will begin in December.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the 403-room Hilton hotel has been set for Dec. 6, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The hotel is being built on property adjacent to the county's convention center at 650 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach. The hotel, which should be completed in 2015, will feature two ballrooms and 13 meeting rooms.

"The new Hilton Hotel will allow The Palm Beaches to compete with many more regional convention facilities and increase our stature in the meetings industry," states Discover Palm Beach County President and CEO Jorge Pesquera. "The close proximity of the hotel to the convention center, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, CityPlace, downtown West Palm Beach's Waterfront Commons and Airport, will give us a compelling selling proposition to secure groups that require a larger room block and significant meeting space."
