LITTLE FERRY, NJ-As New Jersey residents begin to receive funds from the first round of federal Sandy-relief grants, comes word that the federal government is kicking in another $1.46-billion in a second round of assistance to aid those impacted by Superstorm Sandy.
Shaun Donovan, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, appeared here this week with U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, Sen. Jeffrey Chiesa, Sen.-elect Cory Booker, and Little Ferry Mayor Mauro Raguseo to announce the Community Development Block Grants funding, part of a $50.5-billion relief package approved last January.
Sec. Donovan said federal officials were working to “streamline” the application process for grants. He noted that the requirements “may seem onerous, but are important.” See story in The Record.
