PITTSBURGH-The former Federal Reserve Bank building in downtown Pittsburgh will be converted into a Drury Inn & Suites hotel.
The property is in the process of being sold by M&J Wilkow of Chicago to Drury Hotels. Joe Pereles, vice president of St. Louis-based Drury Hotel Co. says that the $30-million remodeling project to transform the property into a 180-room Drury Inn & Suites will begin next November. A subsidiary of Drury Southwest Inc. will operate the facility when the sale of the property closes in the next few weeks, according to TribLive.com.
Construction on the new hotel should be finished by November 2015. The new facility will mark Drury's entrance into the Pittsburgh hotel market.
“We recently purchased a building in Cleveland, and our historic restoration crew will be going there to have that building converted into a hotel,” Pereles said. “Following that conversion, the team will come to Pittsburgh.” See story in the TribLive.com.
