SANTA ANA, CA-Ernesto Vasquez, founding partner of MVE Group, has moved from his position as officer of the firm to become chairman and CEO of related company MVE Institutional, an institutional planning and design firm. Vasquez had served in his former capacity for 37 years.

The move is to allow Vasquez to focus exclusively on MVE Institutional. His transition to full-time leadership at the firm is a result of the company's rapid growth over the past decade; it recently observed its 10-year anniversary as a firm and its one-year anniversary with independent offices. MVE Institutional has received numerous awards, including several Gold Nuggets and LEED certifications.

Vasquez, who is known for creating environments that are socially and environmentally responsible as well we economically viable, is widely renowned as a community advocate and leader. His designs incorporate smart-growth principals and promote public transit, improved educational environments and mixed land uses.

Regarding his new career move, Vasquez says, “I'm excited about what the future holds. I look forward to pursuing my long-held interests in public/private partnerships with universities, cities, county governments, housing authorities, transit authorities, K-12 schools, mixed-use complexes and international developments.”

Vasquez tells GlobeSt.com that he is more interested in focusing on the social infrastructure, while the goal of MVE Group as a whole is to continue to focus on the private sector. Stay tuned to GlobeSt.com's Orange County page for an update that includes an interview with Vasquez and his thoughts on how we should deal with infrastructure.

As GlobeSt.com reported in February, MVE Institutional is the architect of record for Celadon at 9th & Broadway, one of Bridge Housing's affordable-housing projects in San Diego. Situated on an infill site that was once a parking lot, the project includes 250 rental apartments for individuals and small families.
