FORT LAUDERDALE-The much-heralded but never opened Trump International hotel here that has been saddled with lawsuits and bankruptcy proceedings, is in contract with a partnership that intends to spend $100 million on the 24-story property.

The plan is to convert the property into a luxury hotel and condominium. The partnership plans to open the property as a Conrad Hotel, according to the Sun-Sentinel. "The Conrad is a Hilton-luxury brand," Heidi Davis Knapik, an attorney representing the partnership told a group of homeowners and businesses in the area. She said the Conrad has signed a management agreement to operate the hotel portion of the property.

The new proposal would create 181 hotel units and 109 residence-only units. See story in the Sun-Sentinel.
