SAN FRANCISCO-Equity Residential recently opened a new 5,000 square-foot regional headquarters at 333 Third Street in the SOMA District.
The move was announced by John Hyjer, first VP, investments for equity residential. The firm says the lease highlights its long-term commitment to the region, and provides a central location from which to develop and manage its growing property portfolio.
Following the recent acquisition of a significant portion of Archstone's Bay Area portfolio of existing and planned multi-family projects, this move is part of Equity Residential's strategic plan to better serve its communities and manage its active development sites. With the acquisition, Equity Residential now has more than 16,316 residential units under management or in active development.
To streamline operations and provide optimal service, the new office will combine development, management and investment services under one roof. Development will be led by first VP Jim Kelly, who is relocating from Tampa, FL, and VP Peter Solar, who has been operating in the city from an office on Market Street.
“Having both Jim and Peter operating out of a central location in the city is a sign of our commitment to the communities in which we are a part, and to our clients and partners,” stated Hyjer. “With the number of new developments in our pipeline and the expected growth of the multi-family market, our team is now optimally positioned to provide hands on investment, development and management services throughout the greater San Francisco Region,” he added.
The office's property management group, led by VP of property management, Corey Warren, has a strong team of regional managers, consisting of Shanna Leal, Deanna Benbry, Oceania Vailancourt, Nathaniel Stevens and Jennifer Cummings. Hyjer's local investment team consists of VP Brett Richards and acquisitions director Jeff Sullivan.
Equity Residential is focused on the acquisition, development and management of high quality apartment properties in top U.S. growth markets.
