CHARLOTTE-Wells Fargo & Co. will be returning to a University City building it had vacated two years ago.
The San Francisco-based financial services firm has signed a lease for the entire 8740 Research Drive building, which totals approximately 160,000 square feet, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Wells Fargo had occupied the property for some time, but vacated the building in 2012 when it relocated staff there to Innovation Park.
The 8740 Research Drive building is now owned by Exter Property Group, which acquired the building last April for $6 million and is in the midst of a capital improvement program at the property.
Josh Dunn, a spokesman for Wells Fargo, says some bank employees will relocate to 8740 Research Drive from other sites in Charlotte. He notes the bank will not use all of the space at the building at first, but will fill out the space via anticipated growth. See story in the Charlotte Business Journal.
