NEW YORK CITY-Confirming earlier reports, law firm Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP has signeda 20-year lease renewal at the Paramount Group's 1633 Broadway. The law firm has committed to approximately 225,000 square feet on the 19th through 23rd floors of the 48-story office tower.
Currently located on floors 20 through 24, Kasowitz will embark on a restacking that entails a complete reconstruction and technological renovation project designed by TPG Architecture. It will enable Kasowitz to operate more efficiently by accommodating current and future expansion in less space.
“It was intricate reinventing the infrastructure of a 43-year-old building in order to support the demanding needs of a cutting-edge law firm that needs to be in operation 24/7,” says Mark Weiss of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. “We ultimately succeeded in creating a modern day solution for a middle-aged building.” Adam Endik, a partner in the real estate group at Kasowitz who worked with the building ownership, brokers and TPG on the restack, says the team helped the law firm "to design a customized work space solution that takes into account uniformity and controllability. They did an impressive job of working under enormous time constraints to accommodate our unique needs.”
Weiss and NGKF colleague Moshe Sukenik represented Kasowitz, along with Howard Lorber of Douglas Elliman. Paramount was represented in-house by Ted Koltis and Heather Kahn.
Built in 1970, 1633 Broadway underwent lobby renovations in 2012. Along with Kasowitz, other major tenants include Deloitte, Allianz Global Investors, Dickstein Shapiro LLP and Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. GlobeSt.com first reported the deal earlier this month.
