NEW YORK CITY-In a consolidation Downtown from three Midtown locations, law firm Jones Day has signed a 20-year lease for 330,210 square feet at Brookfield Office Properties' 250 Vesey St., one of the four towers within the eight-million-square-foot Brookfield Place campus. The lease of the property's top eight floors is for space formerly occupied by Bank of America/Merrill Lynch under a lease that expired last month.

Studley had assisted Jones Day in its search for additional space after outgrowing its headquarters at 222 E. 41st St. The law firm eventually expanded to 605 Third Ave. and 220 E. 42nd St. A Studley team of chairman and CEO Mitchell Steir, EVPs David Goldstein and Matthew Barlow, corporate managing director Jason Perla and SVP L. Stanton Towne represented Jones Day in its relocation to Brookfield Place.

BPO's SVP and director of leasing, Jerry Larkin, credits the Studley team for its “vision, professionalism and dedication” and says the law firm's relocation represents “another significant step forward in the continued evolution of Lower Manhattan.” Larkin and BPO colleague David Cheikin provided in-house representation for ownership.

Brookfield Place is in the midst of a $250-million repositioning program of its retail and common areas, which will be completed in 2014. Jones Day plans to move into its new space in 2016. GlobeSt.com first reported on the deal earlier this month.
