NEW YORK CITY-A number of city agencies and private developers behind an $80-million affordable housing project in the Soundview section of the Bronx are scheduled to break ground on the venture today.
The groundbreaking will be for the first phase of the planned 206-unit development. The first phase, called Soundview Family Housing, will total 120 affordable units and will be built on city-owned land.
The project is being developed jointly by the city Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the New York City Housing Authority and developers CPC Resources, Lemle & Wolff and L+M Development Partners.
"We are excited. This is part of the initiative to bring much-needed affordable housing to the Bronx with access to Soundview Park," says Eric Enderlin, deputy commissioner for development at the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development. See story in Crain's New York Business.
