NEWARK-Construction crews have been working two shifts to complete as much work as possible on the Prudential tower building here before cold weather takes hold here.

Chris Pastore, project manager for SJP Properties, said, “We want to take advantage of the mild weather. When you can get it done, you want to get as much accomplished as you can.” He noted that the intensified work at the site has produced tangible results. “If you came by a few weeks ago, you would have just seen a hole in the ground,” Pastore told The Star-Ledger. “We're now eight stories tall.”

Prudential is constructing the $144-million, 20-story office tower on Broad Street across from Military Park. The insurer's global headquarters will remain at 751 Broad St. The new building will house staff currently housed in the Gateway Building in Newark. The insurer also has plans to build another office tower adjacent to the new one it is now constructing. See story in The Star-Ledger.
