WASHINGTON, DC-The ownership of grocer Fresh & Green's reports it plans to shut down all six of its stores located in downtown Washington, DC, downtown Baltimore, and four other Maryland locations.
Natural Markets Food Group, the parent company of the grocer, reports that stores will wind down operations and close their doors for good by the end of this month, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.
"Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the stores remained unprofitable," states Robin S. Michel, CEO of Irvington, NY-based Natural Markets Food Group. "We've reached the point at which continuing to operate these stores does not make financial sense for the company."
The stores, that were all previously occupied by Superfresh stores, are located on North Charles Street in downtown Baltimore; Arnold; Chestertown; Brunswick; Cambridge and on 48th Street NW in Washington, DC. See story in the Baltimore Business Journal.
