WASHINGTON, DC-Restaurant and bookstore Busboys & Poets has agreed to be the latest major tenant at the mixed-use Monroe Street Market being built in the northeast section of the district.

The 7,400-square-foot Busboys & Poets location will open at the Brookdale property in the fall of next year. It will join a Barnes & Noble college bookstore for Catholic University and a casual pizza restaurant from the owners of Meridian Pint called "& Pizza,” according to the Washington Business Journal.

"I think it's a perfect fit for Busboys," says owner Andy Shalla. "It's a community that I have an affinity for and that I felt was well under-served for many years. Now it's time that it's gotten its share of amenities. I think people have been longing for that."

The restaurant at Monroe Street Market will be the sixth Busboys & Poets. It also has in DC, Arlington, and Hyattsville. A fifth location in Takoma Park is expected to open next spring. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
