ATLANTIC CITY-Caesars Entertainment wrote in a securities filing on Wednesday that online gaming could reduce the number of patrons that visit bricks and mortar casinos here.

The Las Vegas-based firm, which owns four casinos in Atlantic City, stated in the filing to regulators that online gaming could impact its bottom line.

However, a company spokesman later backed away from the statement, saying to The Associated Press the warning had to be included for legal reasons, regardless of how likely or unlikely the company believes the potential risk of online gaming might be. See story in the Star Ledger.
