NEW YORK CITY-This year's recipient of the George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award, Thomas L. Hill, is a four-decade veteran of property management. An SVP with Boston Properties' New York City operations, he was sworn in on Friday as president of the Building Owners and Managers Association's New York chapter for the 2014-2015 term.
Hill began his career in real estate over 40 years ago serving in various line and supervisory positions with Uris Buildings Corp. and later with Paramount Group, Inc. In 1985, he joined BXP, and has since risen through the ranks to his current position.
Hill oversees property management and tenant relations for the REIT's Manhattan assets, including 601 Lexington Ave., 599 Lexington Ave., 399 Park Ave., 7 Times Square, 767 Fifth Ave., 540 Madison Ave., 510 Madison Ave., 5 Times Square, 90 Church St. and the forthcoming tower at 250 W. 55th St.
A BOMA member since 1986, Hill also serves on the boards of the Realty Advisory Board on Labor Relations, REBNY's management division and the RAB/IUOE Local 94 Engineers Welfare, Annuity and Training programs. He was the co-chair of the Fire Protection Technical Committee as part of the NYC Department of Buildings/RE Industry task force to revise the city's building code, and has worked extensively with FDNY on several initiatives to write the study manual and test questions for Certificate of Fitness credentials concerning fire protection system maintenance/testing and life safety.
The Brooker Award honors the memory of the first VP for REBNY's Management Division and one of the profession's most respected members.
