HOUSTON-Oil giant Chevron Corp. has decided to push back construction on its 50-story downtown office tower project here.
The San Ramon, CA-based company will not move forward with the high-rise project until after 2014, according to Chevron spokesman Justin Higgs. The company still intends to develop the 1.7-million-square-foot office project at 1600 Louisiana St. and other office projects it has planned across the country.
The project was to augment its other office properties at 1500 Louisiana and 1400 Smith streets, according to the Houston Business Journal. The company announced the new office project in July that was one of the largest real estate/economic development deals of the year.
Chevron had planned to hire or relocate 1,750 workers as part of the expansion. See story in the Houston Business Journal.
