NAPA, CA-The developers of a planned St. Regis luxury resort on Stanly Lane have submitted the first part of a major design review application to the city.

The application from owner Stanly Ranch Vineyards, LLC, includes an architectural overview of the 93-acre property. Building designs have yet to be submitted, said Mike Allen, city of Napa associate planner, in speaking with local media.

The latest plan includes a revised location for the main resort building and cottages, replacement of a planned pond with “enhanced riparian restoration.” It also includes a detail of the required 415 parking spaces and revision to the winery building area to allow for future development of a winery building, crush pad and rehabilitation of a historical cistern.

In 2010, the Napa City Council unanimously approved a five-star St. Regis resort on rolling vineyard land on Stanly Lane. The project, including 245 guest and resident units and a winery, would be built among vines at the city's southern entry. It would occupy 93 acres of the 700-acre Stanly Ranch, most of which remains set aside for wineries and vineyards.

The project was originally led by developer Jeff Selby of SR Napa LLC of Colorado. However, the recession stalled plans for years, as developers sought financing for the project.

In May, SKB Hotel Group of Portland announced it had joined forces with Selby and developer Randy Nichols of the Nichols Partnership to develop the project, budgeted at $275 million, according to a news release.

After the application is complete, the project will go before the Planning Commission and City Council for approval. According to Allen, the developers hope to break ground by October.
