WOODBRIDGE, NJ-This week The Kislak Company's Jeffrey Wiener begins his 41st year with the same company. Last week he was recognized for the first four decades.

Jay I. Kislak, chairman, said the success of the company is “directly related” to Wiener's success. “I have always admired his warm way with clients and colleagues, and his ability to seize opportunities,” Kislak said.

Wiener, who is co-managing director of Kislak, said it was diligence and perseverance that helped him rise, plus the original training from his father Benjamin who taught him to work hard and be honest.

“For my first couple of years, I was still waiting tables at night and teaching tennis on the weekends, but I stuck with it,” Wiener said. “To have a successful career, you need to build and maintain relationships, and you need to like people. Many of my clients have also become friends, and in many cases, I am now working with multiple generations. I love that.”

Wiener worked with the 107-year-old company's founder, Julius Kislak, and many other members of the Kislak family.

In 1995, he was appointed president and managing director of Kislak Co., a post he held for 16 years while continuing to work directly with clients. During that time, he was often the company's top salesperson.

Wiener stepped down from most of his administrative duties in 2011, and retains  the role of senior salesperson, in addition to being co-managing director with current Kislak Co. president, Robert Holland.

Wiener has sold more than 200 apartment buildings, shopping centers and office buildings in New Jersey.

His multifamily transactions total more than $2 billion and range from a 28-unit apartment complex in Highland Park to the single largest multifamily sale in the state, a 1,492-unit complex with land for development in Maple Shade. His retail transactions include the sale of the 1.5 million-square-foot Monmouth Mall in Eatontown, New Jersey.

“I still love closing a deal and knowing I have done well by my clients,” Wiener said. “I am having a great time.”
