COLUMBIA, MD-Locally-based Costello Construction got the green light last week from the Howard County Planning Board to build a nine-story mixed-use project on the downtown lakefront here.
The Little Patuxent Square development will consist of 160 rental apartments, 10,145 square feet of retail space, 126,181 square feet of office space, as well as underground and above ground parking, according to the Baltimore Sun.
David Costello, owner of Costello Construction, terms the project “a huge step for downtown Columbia. “ He estimates that construction will begin at the 1.4-acre vacant site in mid-March with the project being completed in early 2016.
Costello Construction bought the property from WCI Communities n March 2012 for $3.5 million. WCI had proposed to build a 22-story condo tower at the property. See story in the Baltimore Sun.
