FORT LAUDERDALE-Hilton Worldwide has announced an agreement with the owner of what was to be the Trump International Hotel & Tower that it will open and operate a Conrad Hotels & Resorts residence and resort at the property.

CFLP Partnership LLC, which owns the nearby Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort, recently purchased the vacant tower at 551 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. for $115 million. The 290-room Conrad Fort Lauderdale Resort and Residences will have studio, one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom residences, which will be managed and rented to visitors when the owners aren't staying at the resort, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Asking prices for the residences start at $450,000.

“Conrad Fort Lauderdale will represent a destination for a new generation of global luxury travelers for whom life, business and pleasure seamlessly intersect," states John T. A. Vanderslice, global head of luxury and lifestyle brands for Hilton Worldwide.

The 24-story condo-hotel project was originally slated to open in 2009 as The Trump International Hotel and Tower, but lawsuits and a bankruptcy filing followed. Donald Trump later pulled his name from the unfinished project. The property is currently undergoing a $34-million capital improvement program and is scheduled to open in 2015.
