NEWARK- UnitedHealth Group has renewed its long-term lease at C&K Properties' 2 Gateway Center in the city's downtown. downtown Newark. Citing 2 Gateway's advantages of location and infrastructure, the country's largest healthcare organization will continue to maintain its offices, totalihng about 7,500 square feet, within the building.

“This building's efficiency, security and unparalleled infrastructure were key selling points for UnitedHealth Group, and the company's decision to renew was made without hesitation,” says Dudley Ryan, SVP with CBRE, the property's exclusive leasing agent.Adds Ben Korman, co-founder and principal of C&K Properties. “We continue to reinvest in this building to maintain its leading-edge position in the marketplace and look forward to meeting the space needs of UnitedHealth and other institutional users into the future.”

Ryan represented 2 Gateway Center in the transaction, while UHG was represented by Jones Lang LaSalle. Lease terms were not disclosed.

Part of Newark's 2.6 million-square-foot Gateway Complex, 2 Gateway Center is centrally located in the city's downtown business district along Market Street between McCarter Highway and Mulberry Street. Originally an AT&T-designed New Jersey headquarters, the 18-story, Energy Star-certified tower is located on a dark fibre hub, allowing rare access to what is reportedly the fastest fiberoptic internet connection available in the region.

Last year, 2 Gateway announced a program designed to help real estate professionals and business owners realize the full benefits of the New Jersey Economic Opportunity Act of 2013. Through 2 Gateway's Incentives Concierge Program, companies and brokerage professionals can obtain a free, customized analysis of the cost savings for prospective tenants of relocating to 2 Gateway Center under the Act's new Grow NJ program. C&K has partnered with attorney Ted Zangari of law firm Sills Cummis & Gross, who is leading the concierge service's customized incentive analyses.
