NEW YORK CITY-The law firm Reed Smith is reportedly in negotiations to lease at least 160,000 square feet of office space at the 7 Bryant Park office tower, which is currently under construction.

The deal, if consummated, would be the first lease transaction at the 30-story, 471,000-square-foot tower being built by Hines in partnership with investors Pacolet Milliken Enterprises and JPMorgan Asset Management. Reed Smith is competing with another unnamed firm to become the anchor tenant at the property, according to Crain's New York Business.

Reed Smith would move to 7 Bryant Park from 599 Lexington Ave. in east midtown. CBRE, led by New York area CEO Mary Ann Tighe, represents the building owner in leasing transactions. Jones Lang LaSalle represents Reed Smith. See story in Crain's New York Business.
