NEW YORK CITY-A group of developers were set to begin construction on a massive mixed-use development in the West Farms and Crotona Park East sections of the Bronx that will include 1,300 rental apartment units and retail space.

The development team that includes Signature Urban Properties is beginning construction on two buildings at 172nd St. and Boone Ave. that will be part of one of the largest housing projects built in the borough in decades.

The development called Compass Residences Development will eventually house 1,300 residential units, including 660 affordable that are affordable. The 10 buildings to be built on about five acres will also include 46,000 square feet of retail along with public open space. See story in Crain's New York Business.
