WASHINGTON, DC-The General Services Administration has issued what it calls a pre-solicitation that is seeking smaller alternative space for the Transportation Security Administration.

The TSA, which currently leases a little under 647,000 square feet in several Northern Virginia office buildings, would check in at no more than 625,000 square feet under the pre-solicitation. The GSA is seeking a 15-year lease beginning in August 2017 with the TSA taking over all of its space sometime in 2018, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The TSA, which oversees airport security, leases space at 601 and 701 S. 12th St. in Pentagon City, 6354 Walker Lane in Springfield, 1900 Oracle Way in Reston and Riverside Parkway in Ashburn. All of those spaces have lease expirations between March 2014 and March 2018. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
