LIBERTY, NY-The development team of Connecticut's Foxwoods Casino and Muss Development of New York City unveiled its "sketch plan" for a more than $400-million casino resort on 1,200 acres of land adjacent to the former Grossinger's resort site here.
The Foxwoods Catskills Resort Casino project was unveiled before a crowd of more than 200 at Liberty High School in Sullivan County. In addition to the casino, the project calls for a sports complex, an equestrian center, a spa, a 400-room hotel and town houses, according to the Middletown Times-Herald Record.
The resort will also feature 27 holes of golf and a lakeside marina.
The Foxwoods Catskills Resort Casino is one six known contenders for the up to two Catskill casinos allowed by state law. A total of four upstate casinos will be chosen in three regions: the Capital/Saratoga region, the Southern Tier and the Catskills/Hudson Valley. Some gaming experts believe Gov. Cuomo may chose two locations in the Catskills/Hudson Valley region when he makes his final casino preferences in the fall. See story in the Middletown Times-Herald Record.
