NEWARK, NJ-Newark School Superintendent Cami Anderson reports that the state has committed $100 million to fund the repair of the district's school buildings.

The announcement comes a few days after Anderson's school reorganization plan received some criticism from some local circles. The funding commitment includes approximately $30 million in funds authorized in 2013 and nearly $70 million in projects submitted to the state's School Development Authority this year. As yet, the 2014 projects have not been approved by the agency, according to the Star-Ledger.

While some argued that the funding is not in place, State Education Commissioner Christopher Cerf says that while SDA funding is done on a project basis, "We looked at projects, looked at the funds, and we can assure you we have at least $100 million available for Newark."
