WASHINGTON, DC-Hotel industry veteran Kevin Hanley has joined the local office of HREC Investment Advisors, a hotel real estate advisory firm, as senior vice president.
A 35-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Hanley was most recently the CEO of Sunburst Hospitality. He has also held senior level positions with Choice Hotels, Manor Care and Motel 6 L.P. His hire represents a bet by the home office that the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast hotel markets will continue to grow—including, and perhaps especially, the Washington DC market, he tells GlobeSt.com.
"I am the second person on the ground in the Washington DC area for HREC," he says. "My appointment will allow the company to get more coverage in DC and throughout the Northeast."
The DC market continues to be a strong local market despite the relatively soft operating fundamentals of the last two years, he says. "We believe those will correct themselves going forward. Local investors are still quite interested in the DC hotel market."
