NEW YORK CITY-Commercial real estate veteran Peter Simel has joined Colliers International's New York City office as a managing director.
Simel, most recently served as senior managing director for Handler Real Estate and previously was a vice president for CBRE for nine years, company officials say.
“Peter is well-known in the industry for his extensive market knowledge and exceptional client service, which has allowed him to develop strong, long-term relationships with clients and local owners over his more than 13 years in corporate real estate,” states Joseph Harbert, president of Colliers International's Eastern Region. “His proven track-record of success in New York and work for prestigious clients makes him a great addition to the Colliers team.”
Among some of his notable transactions, Simel was responsible for the disposition and acquisition of 590 Madison Ave. and the Steinway Building on behalf of law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. He also arranged a 25-year, 28,500-square-foot lease for Bergdorf Goodman at 625 Madison Ave., and facilitated the 45,000-square-foot lease for Investec Ernst & Co. at the Chrysler Building.
Before entering the real estate industry, Simel founded PHD Inc., a multi-line show room that imported and distributed leading European fashion brands. He also founded the “Laundry Industry” store in SoHo.
