LAUREL, MD—Chesapeake Education Services, LLC, a public charter school, has acquired the one-story office building at 6151 Chevy Chase Drive here for approximately $5.6 million from Exeter Property Group.
The deal for the 69,999-square-foot office building was reported by Cassidy Turley, which represented the buyer in the transaction. Chesapeake Education Services will open its third location at the Chevy Chase Drive office building in the fall of 2014. The new location will open as a pubic charter elementary school.
The other Chesapeake charter schools operate as middle/high schools in Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties.
Robert Oare of Cassidy Turley represented the buyer. Hayes Merkert and Karen Cherry of Cushman & Wakefield represented the seller, Exeter Property Group in the transaction.
“Chesapeake Education Services, LLC has been so successful that Prince George's County requested they add this elementary school,” states Oare, senior vice president and principal at Cassidy Turley. “This building is a former bank operations facility and will convert well for school use. The entire building is on raised computer flooring, with heavy duty HVAC equipment.”
