NEW YORK CITY-Internet giant Google is reportedly conducting an office search of up to 600,000 square feet of space for an expansion of its New York City offices.
The space search is for quarters that would have more than 3,000 Google employees, according to the Wall Street Journal. Google is currently based in the Chelsea section of Manhattan and occupies a total of approximately 750,000 square feet at 111 Eighth Ave. and in Chelsea Market. The two properties do not have available space to accommodate Google's expansion needs.
Google is considering space at 450 West 33rd St., a 16-story building that formerly housed operations of the New York Daily News, and the St. John's Terminal building at 550 Washington St.
A decision on where it will lease its new offices is not imminent. See story in the Wall Street Journal.
