WILMINGTON, DE—The Wilmington Renaissance Corp. is scheduled to unveil today its ambitious public-private partnership to redevelop the Quaker Hill section of the city.

The plan would involve the development of affordable live-work housing, improved street lighting, public gathering spaces and enhanced arts programming in a 25-block area bounded by Fourth, Ninth, Market and Washington streets, according to The News Journal.

The Wilmington Renaissance Corp. is scheduled to provide details on the plan at its annual meeting today at the Queen.

The concept has received early support from Delaware Gov. Jack Markell and Wilmington Mayor Dennis P. Williams.

"The mayor strongly believes Wilmington must attract imaginative people from all walks of life who are committed to making our city a destination – a city where exploration of new ideas and growth of inventive commerce flourishes," says Alexandra Coppadge, a spokeswoman for Mayor Williams.
