MINNEAPOLIS—Many builders and developers have experienced strong growth in the past couple of years, and Opus Design Build, L.L.C. is no different. In response, the Minnesota firm has just hired Christy Lewis for its newly created position of director of business development.
“In the past, we've had a single position that was focused on both development and design/build construction work,” Dave Bangasser, president and chief executive officer of Opus Design Build, tells GlobeSt.com. This new position, however, is “solely focused on our third-party design/build construction and is part of a renewed effort to increase our activity in that sector.”
“We've been steadily increasing our business by about 20% year-over-year,” Bangasser adds, “and believe that will continue for 2014.” Design/build currently comprises about 35% to 50% of Opus' work.
“Christy has a great amount of experience in the industry, especially construction, and she also has the energy and passion needed for this position,” he says.
With nearly 20 years of experience in commercial sales and marketing, Lewis comes to Opus from Doran Companies Construction, where she was director of business development. Other previous professional experience includes roles at Hallmark Building Supplies and Facility Systems, Inc.
“This position allows for unique opportunities to expand Opus' business by demonstrating the value of an integrated design-build team,” says Lewis. “I'm looking forward to bringing these opportunities to the table and expanding on the strong partnerships Opus already has in place.”
